Polish Drifting Championship 2024. RND 2 Słomczyn Track

The second round of Polish Drifting Championship took place on 22 and 23 June. Over 50 drivers from Poland and abroad competed on the track a few dozen kilometres from Warsaw. The Słomczyn racetrack is a new facility appreciated by drivers and spectators because it promotes thrilling duels, which was the case also during the second round of the season.

Saturday’s qualifying session followed a practice in the morning. It was the last chance to tune up the vehicles before the first part. The driving performance during the qualifying was outstanding, with eight drivers scoring over 90 points. Poland’s Dawid Sposób qualified as third with 95 points, yielding to Ukrainian Alex Holovnia with 95 points but a better first run. The second-round qualifying best was Polish Paweł Korpuliński, who scored 98 for a spectacular and nearly perfect run.

The second day was the TOP 32 Battles. The weather was great, with steady conditions throughout the day. Zero precipitation made all spectators and drivers really happy. After the practice, the drivers proceeded to the finals. The runs were exciting and simply beautiful from the get-go. This year’s roster is exceptionally strong, which is evident from the finals. After defeating Czech Zdenek Kadebarek in TOP 32, Polish Paweł Korpuliński secured his place in TOP 16 to face Fabian Doroziński, representative of Iceland. After a good duel, Korpuliński moved on to TOP 8, where he competed with Adam Zajączek from Poland just like in Kielce. At this point, Zajączek had to accept defeat. Better luck next time! Korpuliński was now in semifinals, or TOP4. After two exciting runs against Jakub Król, Korpuliński had to concede and settle for final B. What a show it was! After two impressive and quick runs with Dawid Sposób, Paweł Korpuliński seized the win and secured third place, right behind Jakub Król and the winner of the Słomczyn round, Ukrainian Alex Holovnia.
