Drift Masters – Round Six, Ferropolis, Dessau, Germany

The penultimate round of the 2025 Drift Masters season brought nearly fifty drivers and thousands of fans to Ferropolis, the former open-pit mine site. Once again, the “Iron City” turned into a battleground for Europe’s drifting elite, where 48 male drivers and one female competitor fought for flawless qualifying runs and a spot in the TOP 32.

The entry threshold was set high at 86 points, underlining the level of competition. All five Polish drivers made it into the elimination bracket, and in the top four of qualifying we saw a Polish-Irish mix. Conor Shanahan topped the charts with 97.5 points, followed by Piotr Więcek (97 pts), Jack Shanahan (96.5 pts), and Paweł Korpuliński (94 pts).

For Korpuliński, this was a milestone – his first-ever appearance in the Qualifying Showdown. Paired with Conor Shanahan, he showed aggressive chasing and wide, wall-kissing lead lines. The judges, however, awarded the victory to the more experienced Irishman. In the other pairing, Jack Shanahan advanced automatically as Piotr Więcek did not appear on the start line. Fans then enjoyed an all-Irish showdown between the Shanahan brothers, which Conor won.

Saturday’s TOP 32 battles kicked off with Korpuliński facing Dave Egan. Starting as the lead driver, Paweł quickly pulled away, while Egan clipped the wall. Switching roles, the Pole delivered another clean, controlled chase, leaving no doubt about his advancement into the TOP 16.

Three Polish drivers reached the last sixteen, including an all-Polish clash: Korpuliński vs. Jakub Król. As the lead, Paweł brushed the concrete, losing his bumper and unsettling his opponent. In the chase run, he mirrored Król’s line with precision, earning a unanimous call from the judges to progress into the TOP 8. There, the field featured the qualifying top four – the Shanahan brothers and Więcek – plus Marco Zakouřil, Kevin Pesur, Lauri Heinonen, and Mika Keski-Korpi.

In the quarterfinal, Paweł faced Estonian driver Kevin Pesur. As the lead, he nailed the clipping zones with surgical accuracy, while Pesur’s proximity caused contact that tore off bumpers from both cars. After repairs, the chase run was calmer, but Korpuliński’s consistency secured another unanimous win and a spot in the semifinals. The other three semifinalists were Więcek, Jack Shanahan, and Conor Shanahan.

Korpuliński’s semifinal battle was against Conor Shanahan, the top qualifier. Starting as the chase driver, the Pole attacked aggressively, sticking close through transitions and zones. When the roles reversed, the duel remained equally intense. While one judge called for a “One More Time,” the majority decided Conor had shown better proximity, sending him to the final and moving Korpuliński into the playoff for third place against Więcek, who had lost to Jack Shanahan.

The “small final” gave fans another Polish head-to-head. Więcek, chasing the championship crown, led the first run while Korpuliński kept close. In the second run, Więcek glued himself to Paweł’s car, not giving him any breathing room – enough to secure third place for the round. Meanwhile, the Shanahan brothers delivered a thrilling final, with Conor prevailing once again to take the overall lead in the standings.

After Ferropolis, the championship table stands as follows:

  • 1. Conor Shanahan – 390 pts

  • 2. Piotr Więcek – 382 pts

  • 3. Jack Shanahan – 300 pts

  • 4. James Deane – 249 pts

  • 5. Kevin Pesur – 248 pts

  • 6. Paweł Korpuliński – 235 pts

The season finale – Red Bull Drift Masters Grand Finale – will take place on September 12–13, 2025, at PGE Narodowy in Warsaw.
